I really like Margarita Mamun's new ribbon routine. She obviously has a lot of "cleaning up" to do but this routine has difficulty, and expression. And a red ribbon looks strong and elegant at the same time.
I would really like to see better pivots from her and I am looking forward to a more polished version of this jewel of an exercise! Keep it up, Rita!
Acquire more polish?... wasn't the problem last season simply being worn down through overtraining and overcompeting?
ReplyDeleteMy snap judgment was that it was only involved with the music for a couple of short stretches. Even allowing for her completing some moves which she only feints at for the moment, I don't think it's going to marry with the music enough. This is the kind of thing that confounds Mr. Grandi about rhythmic gymnastics. It all makes her look introverted and sensitive, but not quite sensitive enough to fully match the music, obviously. She looks so much more swish in black head to toe anyway, see her training video for this (where she also looks all alone). Perhaps the way to popularity is not the pretty leotard, but a Maksy catsuit? We can but hope.
